Riga in Latvia

Latvia is a country situated in northeastern Europe. The beautiful country with rich history borders the Baltic Sea and is one of the three Baltic countries, together with Estonia and Lithuania, bordering the north and south respectively. Known for the most part as Livonia, lands that are now Latvia, during the XIII century came under the influence of the German order of knights “Brothers of the Sword”. During the XVIII and XIX century, Latvia was conquered by Russia and neighboring areas. The long history and the interesting Russian culture reflected hardly to Latvian life and made the country one of the most interesting and attractive travel destinations in Europe. Riga is the capital of Latvia and a major commercial, financial, education and industrial center of the country. The city is situated on both banks of the Daugava River, just where it empties into the Baltic Sea. Riga is the largest city in the Baltic countries and the third largest city on the Baltic Sea after St Petersburg and Stockholm. Definitely a lot of people like the city, because of the rich history and the monuments of the long city life. In the town of Riga there are two large lakes: Kishezers, which is located in the subregion and Mezhaparks Yugla, which is located in micro Yugla. Definitely both lakes have great and beautiful nature, which is pure and untouched by the modern life.
Riga will fascinate and yet untouched by tourism wonderful natural places, where you can enjoy throughout the year. Summer is a great reason to head to the seaside resorts, located on the fabulous Baltic Coast, close to the city. Definitely the most interesting place for the travelers is the old town. All of the buildings there are built in style art nuevo and the architecture monuments are really large fabulous. The tourists from all over the world prefer to visit Riga and see Pulvertonis tower, which is the only one un-destroyed tower in this land. Another sightseeing in the Latvian capital is the castle Rigas Pils, where is situated the Museum of the Latvian History. Also a lot of museums and culture attractions are available for the tourists from all over the world.
